INVITATION TO CRAFT CAMP 2023

Dear crafter,

I invite you to participate in the 8th Craft Camp which will be held on July 9th –15th 2023 in Viljandi, Estonia. The camp is organized by the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy which is known as a centre for professional handicraft teaching. We believe that Estonian heritage, traditions, and craft skills can be interesting to a wide range of people. Craft Camp is a meeting place for masters, craft-lovers and teachers from all over the world.

Participants can choose between 27 workshops on variety of materials and techniques on beginners and advanced level. There are good old favourites, such as Muhu slippers, pick-up belts, Mulgi embroidery, inlay knitting, leather pouch and dyeing with indigo. Crochet, blacksmithing, silversmithing and wood carving courses have gone through some refreshment. There are numerous new-comers, such as Seto bobbin lace, sewing teddy bears; Kihnu, Mulgi and Viljandimaa knitting, Seto belts, eco-printing, embroidered surface patterns, traditional patching and peasant shoes.

In addition to the workshops, the camp includes a field trip to one area in Estonia with distinct heritage culture, to local craftsmen and rural places which are not always open for tourists to visit. The additional cultural programme includes a concert, lectures and other craft-related activities.

Until March 31st, we offer Early Bird price! The registration will stay open until May 15th. We hope to see you in the summer!

It’s also possible to enjoy 2 weeks full of Estonian crafts. The Post Tour takes you to Estonian islands and coastal area – further information about the tour in the attachment.
